"The Sophia tremolo’s design is such a vast improvement over previous systems that it’s an understatement to call it the most significant tremolo system upgrade introduced since the Floyd Rose." - Guitar World

The introduction of locking tremolo systems have changed the way we play. Their predecessors (traditional, non-locking floating tremolos) made it possible to perform amazing vibrato techniques using the bridge, but they fell prey to inconsistent pitch return and required more care to reliably operate.

In due time, locking tremolos were born and gave musicians more confidence that their guitars would stay in tune. This helped push the boundaries of what a musician could do on the instrument and new techniques followed. But once again, the locking tremolos fell prey to their own issues of maintenance and provided new problems to face.

It’s time again to change how we play

Introducing designs that follow that same drive for innovation, the Sophia 2:92 Pro and 2:22 Standard Pro tremolo bridges aim to improve and expand on their predecessors.

Designed and created by the creative minds from the company Coherent Sound in Light, the Sophia line of tremolos offer a chance to push the boundaries once again by enabling you to stay in tune even better on your Halo custom guitar.

On the Sophia 2:92 Pro (currently available in 6-string and 7-string versions) you will find drastic improvements over some of the older locking tremolos that have been around a while. The first being “macro tuners” that offer infinite fine tuning at an amazing 60:1 ratio. The macro tuners change the pitch in an instantly noticeable way compared to their predecessors' sometimes finicky and limited fine tuning.

On the saddle, you can either insert the string through the tube found at the end of the macro tuner or clip the ball end off and feed it through the front. This is based on string diameter or your preference for different tensions. Both ways, however, get locked in from a set screw on the top of the saddle.

This design helps with keeping the strings in tune due to a straighter string path and makes it less prone for strings to break due to unnecessary kinks.

Adjacent to that is your intonation screw, located by the path of your string. Simply unlock the intonation screw and move the saddle forward or backward, then re-tighten the screw and check.

All of these adjustments, without the strings being in the way!

Another welcome improvement is the simple design of their ‘no wobble’ tremolo arm. This keeps the arm in place when tightened; allowing you to position the tremolo arm wherever you prefer… without flying away from you every time you reach for it.

Next up is the pinnacle of the Sophia Pro design: The Global Tuner Pro. The Global Tuner itself is a wheel located on what's normally your sustain block. However, what this wheel enables you to do is tune all of the instrument’s strings together. This is to help when the elements affect your guitar, causing it to go out of tune. Simply move the wheel left or right if necessary.

Also on the Global Tuner Pro are dual stabilizers. The design incorporates two contact pins that touch the body within your tremolo route to help return the tremolo back to “0” after use with great accuracy. Not only that, unlike similar tremolo zero-set stoppers, you can set it to allow for both tremolo dives AND pulls.

For players who prefer more traditional looks, there is the Sophia 2:22 Standard Pro. This bridge also comes with the Global Tuner Pro and no-wobble arm, but the difference is in the saddles.
The top-loading saddles secure your string ball ends in place. This reduces the amount the string stretches and does not utilize a locking mechanism. You get a sleek look without compromising better tuning stability.

Combine that with the capability to reduce tremolo flutter, add a zero-stop, and easy adjustments from the top of the bridge and you will see how easy playing in tune can be.

Both models are constructed from high quality stainless steel, brass, and have low-noise copper coated springs and spring claws.  These tremolos not only play in reliable fashion, they look stunning as well.

So when you are looking for the perfect complement to your custom Halo guitar, consider making your playing easier and more engaging with the Sophia 2:92 or 2:22 tremolo bridges.
